As part of the “Equality Week” and supported by the European Council, the SEU students together with other university students were hosted by the Department of Human Rights Protection of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia on November 15.
The Prosecutor’s Office hosts introduced the activities of the Department of Human Rights Protection to the students, and discussed the projects on human rights protection undertaken by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Also, the public lecture included the discussion of activities implemented against discrimination, hate speech and intolerance, as well as the progress in elimination of the mentioned types of crime and related challenges.
Within the public lecture, to demonstrate the stereotypes held by the public as well as the discrimination examples, the prosecutors discussed the practical aspects of legal proceedings. The students had a chance of asking questions and express their opinions.
Public projects on promoting equality and increasing young people’s legal awareness will be actively continued in the future.
