Academic competition for the Master Program In Education Administration at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

Georgian National University "SEU" announces an open competition for academic positions (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Assistant) in the Education Administration Master's Program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Competition vacancies:

• Professor - 2 vacancies
• Associate Professor - 2 vacancies
• Assistant Professor - 2 vacancies
• Assistant - 2 vacancies

To participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the relevant academic or professional mark compliance with the relevant competition vacancy, according to the following criteria:

Competition criteria:

1. For the academic position of Professor:

1.1. Academic mark:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent scientific degree.
• Experience of at least 6 years of scientific and pedagogical work.
• Authorship / co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 10 years in the relevant competition direction.
• The conceptual vision of the Master's program in Education Management and experience in developing syllabi for the core study courses of the program (at least 4 courses).

OR 1.2 Professional mark:

• Academic degree of Doctor obtained abroad (in the USA or European countries).
• Experience in conducting scientific research abroad.
• Experience of carrying out practical activities in Georgia and/or abroad in the relevant field.
• Authorship / co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant study course/courses.
• The conceptual vision of the Master's program in Education Management and experience in developing syllabi for the core study courses of the program (at least 4 courses).

2. For the Associate Professor's Academic Position:

2.1. Academic mark:

• Doctoral or equivalent scientific degree.
• Experience of at least 3 years of scientific-pedagogical work.
• Scientific publication/publications published during the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant study course/courses.
• The vision of relevant study courses/experience in developing syllabus (at least 3 study courses).

Or 2.2. Professional mark: 

• Adequate professional experience in the field, which can be confirmed by one of the following signs:
• with at least 5 years of work experience in the relevant field, which is related to practical work in leading positions in the field of Education Administration
• Experience in scientific research (not less than 5 publications in the relevant field during the last 10 years) and not less than 3 years of pedagogical activity in a higher education institution;
• Scientific publication/publications published during the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant study course/courses;
• A vision of relevant study courses/experience in syllabus development (not less than 3 study courses).

3. For the academic position of Assistant Professor.

3.1. Academic mark:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent scientific degree.
• Scientific publication/publications published during the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant learning course/courses.
• A vision of the relevant study course/courses; experience in syllabus development (at least 2 study courses).

Or 3.2 Professional mark:

• At least 3 years of experience in the relevant field, which is related to practical work in leading positions in the field of Education Administration
• Scientific publication/publications published during the last 10 years in the direction of the relevant study course/courses.
• A vision for the implementation of relevant training courses/experience in developing a syllabus for relevant study courses (at least 2 study courses).

4. For the academic position of assistants:

4.1. Academic mark:

1. The status of a doctoral student of the current doctoral program in a higher education institution of Georgia, or - with the condition of submitting of a relevant recognition document - in a higher education institution of a foreign country.

Additional criteria:

• Foreign language knowledge and language competency certificates.
• Practical experience of working in the field.
• Participation in scientific conferences, scientific scholarships and grants.
• Participation in professional development activities.

Documents to be submitted for the competition:

• Application to participate in the competition with reference to the relevant academic position and direction. (In the application should be indicated the relevant vacancy title in the subject of the e-mail).
• Contestant's completed application form.
• Autobiography (CV)  or a copy of the identity document.
• Relevant documentation of the criteria established for the competition vacancy, educational documents certifying the qualification, information on professional experience, published scientific papers, etc.
• Documents proving the compliance of the contestant with additional criteria (optional).
• A vision of the study courses to be conducted by the contestant (description and/or syllabus, with the number established for the relevant competition vacancy).
• Educational program concept. (For the position of Professor).

Stages of the competition:

• Selection of documents submitted by the contestants (without the attendance of the contestants).
• Interview with the Competition Commission (may include a mock lecture).

Competition conditions:

• The competition application and relevant documents must be submitted within the timeframe for submission of competition documents.
• The Commission is authorized to verify the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant and/or to request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of requesting additional documents, the person will be allowed at the next stage of the competition with the condition of submitting the relevant documents.
• According to the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection, the resume you sent to the Georgian National University SEU may contain personal data, including data of a special category. We would like to inform you that your personal data will be processed by the Georgian National University SEU for the purpose of making a contractual agreement with you, including on the establishment of a labour relationship. Also, a resume submitted by you may not be considered for a given vacancy, due to competition requirements, or maybe reserved for another relevant vacancy. Conditions for selection of contestants:

• In the first stage - by determining the compliance of the applications with the main criteria
• In the second stage, with the evaluation by the Competition Commission with each of the main criteria of the contestant, and in case the number of contestants exceeds the number of relevant vacancies, as well as by assessing compliance with additional criteria.
• Remuneration depends on the qualification and experience of the contestant.

Timeframes of the competition:

• The competition is announced from July 28, 2020.
• Applications for academic positions will be accepted from August 31, 2020, to September 3, 2020.
• The first stage of the competition will be the selection of documents from September 7-8, 2020.
• The second stage of the competition, the interview with the competition commission will be held on September 9-10, 2020 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after passing the first stage of the competition).
• The list of contestants who passed the competition will be published on September 11, 2020.
• Appeal applications will be accepted until September 12, 2020.
• Appeals will be considered on September 14, 2020.
• The final results of the competition will be announced on September 15, 2020.
