Personal Data Protection Week opened with a student online conference

On January 22, a student online conference was held in cooperation with Georgian National University SEU and the State Inspector's Office. The conference was regarding personal data protection.

The event was opened by Deputy State Inspectors Sophio Jiadze and Salome Bakhsoliani and Vice-Rector of Georgian National University SEU Ana Pirtskhalashvili.

At the online conference, several high school students presented their papers on current issues. The papers covered the following matters: protection of personal data of students and schoolchildren during distance learning, protection of personal data on health during the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of the pandemic on data security and the dangers of sharing personal data of minors on the Internet.

The conference was held on December 11, 2020, within the framework of the essay competition on personal data protection, in which students of all higher education institutions operating in Georgia could participate. 59 interested students submitted essays in the competition, of which the 12 best were selected by the bilateral commission for today’s conference. All papers presented at the conference will be published in print by SEU, and on International, Personal Data Protection Day, January 28, the 3 best essay authors will be revealed who will undergo a 2-month internship at the State Inspector’s Office.
