Georgian National University SEU announces open competition for academic positions (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Assistant) in Medicine.

Competitive positions: 

1. In the field of healthcare, specializing in biomedical sciences:

• Professor - 1 job vacancy,
• Associate professor - 1 vacancy,
• Assistant professor - 1 vacancy,
• Assistant - 1 vacancy.
   

2. In the field of healthcare, specializing in internal medicine:

• Assistant professor - 1vacancy.
   

3. In the field of healthcare, specializing in surgery:

• Professor - 1 vacancy,
• Assistant professor - 1 vacancy,
   

4. In the field of healthcare, specializing in healthcare:

• Professor - 1 vacancy,
• Assistant professor - 1 vacancy,
  
  

To participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the relevant academic or professional eligibility for the relevant vacancy according to the criteria below.

For the academic position of Professor:

• An academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 6 years of scientific-pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Last 9 years of experience in clinical practice (for clinical disciplines);
• Authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant academic courses;
• Vision of academic activity;
• Presenting the relevant academic course (syllabus(s)) of the educational program;
• State certificate of relevant/related specialty of medical practice (for clinical disciplines).
• Command of English (at minimum B2 level) to run academic courses
  
  

For the academic position of Associate Professor:

Academic eligibility:

• An academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 3 years of scientific-pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Clinical experience of last 5 years (for clinical disciplines);
• Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant course(s);
• Vision of academic activity;
• Presenting the relevant academic course (syllabus(s)) of the educational program;
• State certificate of relevant/related specialty of medical practice (for clinical disciplines);
• Command of English (at minimum B2 level) to run academic courses.
  
  

For the academic position of Assistant Professor:

Academic eligibility:

• An academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant course(s);
• Vision of academic activity;
• Presenting the relevant academic course (syllabus(s)) of the educational program;
• Clinical experience of last 5 years; (for clinical disciplines)
• State certificate of relevant/related specialty in medical practice (for clinical disciplines)
• Command of English (at minimum B2 level) to run academic courses.
  
  

Professional eligibility:

• Master's degree or equivalent academic degree;
• At least 3 years of work experience in the relevant field related to medicine, practical work in a leading position (the content of practical work can be specified depending on the specifics of the program);
• Clinical experience of last 5 years (for clinical disciplines);
• Scientific publication(s) published during the last 10 years in the field of the relevant academic course(s);
• Vision of academic activity;
• State certificate of relevant/related specialty in medical practice (for clinical disciplines);
• Command of English (at minimum B2 level) to run academic courses.

For the academic position of Assistant:

Academic eligibility:

• Active status of the current doctoral student of the higher education institution of Georgia, or the active status of the doctoral student of the higher education institution of a foreign country, provided that a relevant recognition document is submitted.
• Active status of the current doctoral student in the clinical specialty of the higher education institution of Georgia, or in the higher education institution of a foreign country, active status of the doctoral student in the clinical specialty, provided that the relevant recognition document is submitted (for clinical disciplines).
• State certificate of relevant/related specialty in medical practice (for clinical disciplines);
• Command of English (at minimum B2 level) to run academic courses.
  
  

The foreign language competence of the contestant will be considered confirmed in one of the following cases:

In case of submitting a document certifying higher education in the relevant language;

In case of submitting a document certifying the experience of teaching a higher education program/course in the relevant language:

In case of submission of an internationally recognized certificate of language proficiency, which confirms that the contestant has mastered the relevant language at least B2 level, in accordance with the competency description established by the European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR).

It is considered to be an internationally recognized certificate of B2 level language competence provided for in sub-paragraph “C” of paragraph 2 of this Article.

• Cambridge English First (FCE),
• BEC Vantage,
• IELTS 5-6.5,
• TOEFL IBT 87-109,
• Michigan ECCE,
• PTE General Level 3,
• PTE Academic 59-75,
• Trinity ISE II

 A participant of an academic competition who fails to prove his / her language competence in accordance with the provisions of Paragraphs 2 and 3 of this Article shall be obliged to give a mock lecture in a foreign language before the Commission or to pass a language proficiency test through an examination prepared by the university. Test questions and competency limits are determined by the university.

Additional criteria for academic staff:

• Practical experience in the relevant field;
• Participation in scientific conferences, scientific scholarships and grants;
• Participate in professional development activities;
• Command of foreign languages.
  
  

Documents to be submitted for the competition:

• Application for participation in the competition with an indication of the relevant academic position and direction;
• Contestant profile;
• A copy of the identity document
  
  

Documentation relevant to the criteria set for the competition vacancy - copies of educational documents certifying the qualification (in case of education received abroad, it is necessary to have a document of recognition with a diploma), a certificate of professional experience, information about published scientific papers, etc.

• English language proficiency document (if available)
• Documentation confirming the competitor's compliance with the additional criteria;
• State certificate of medical activity (for clinical directions)
• Vision of academic activities;
• Syllabus(es).
  
  

Stages of the competition:

1. Selection of documents submitted by the contestants (in the absence of the contestants);
2. Testing/mock lecture for English language proficiency assessment (will be held for those contestants who do not have the documentation of English language learning/teaching or the international certificate of language proficiency of the relevant level);
3. Interview with the competition commission.
    

Competition terms:

1. The competition application and relevant documents must be submitted within the deadlines for submission of the competition documents.
2. The commission is authorized to check the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant and/or to request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of requesting additional documentation, the person will be admitted to the next stage of the competition provided that the relevant documentation is submitted.
3. Your resume submitted to Georgian National University SEU in accordance with the Georgian Law of on Personal Data Protection may contain personal data, including data of a special category. Please, be informed that your personal data will be processed by Georgian National University SEU for the purposes of making a contract with you, including the decision to establish a labor relationship.

Contestant selection terms:

1. A) Based on selecting the documentation submitted at the first stage, determining the completeness of the documentation and the compliance of their applications with the main criteria;
2. B) Based on the second stage by the competition commission with each of the main criteria of the contestant, and in case the number of contestants exceeds the number of relevant vacancies, as well as by assessing the compliance with the additional criteria;
3. C) An affiliation agreement will be signed with the selected candidates.
   
   

Competition deadlines:

• The competition is announced from February 3, 2021;
• Applications for academic positions will be accepted from March 4, 2021 to March 12, 2021;
• The first stage of the competition will be held on March 15-16, 2021;
• The second stage of the competition - conducting a mock lecture/testing in a foreign language will be held on March 17-18, 2021;
• The third stage of the competition - the interview with the competition commission will take place on March 19, 2021 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after passing the first stage of the competition);
• The list of entrants will be published on March 22, 2021
• Appeal applications will be accepted until March 24, 2021.
• Appeals will be considered on March 25, 2021.
• The final results of the competition will be announced on March 26, 2021.
