Georgia celebrates the day of the first Constitution of Georgia of February 21, 1921 adopted by the First Republic. The mentioned document was one of the most progressive documents in the developed world of that time.

According to that constitution, the right to vote was granted to women in the Democratic Republic of Georgia, earlier than in many developed countries, universal elections were held, where both men and women were taking part.

In 1919, the meeting of founders of the legislative body of the Democratic Republic of Georgia was composed of 130 deputies, among them 5 were women.
