OVERVIEW

The Training Center of Georgian National University SEU offers a certificate course on “Speech, Public Speaking Techniques” by Tamar Stepanishvili.

The course is of a practical nature. During the certificate course, students will master the speech and breathing exercises, tongue-twisters. Certain practical examples will be also provided, in which the students will be actively involved.

The training is intended for any interested individual who has to speak in public, communicate with the media, make a presentation, and hold official meetings.

The aim of the course is to develop students’ public speaking skills in terms of speech, body language, visuals and image, to introduce them to the rules and techniques of appearing in front of the audience, to provide the knowledge that is key during the presentation to establish effective communication with the audience. The course also aims to develop and modify the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the students to help them do their job more efficiently.

In order for a person to speak properly, it is necessary to have a well-functioning speech apparatus, including the tongue, lips, jaws and dentition, as well as to breathe properly through the diaphragm and speak in a low-pitched voice.

The pronunciation of all sounds has its place in the speech apparatus, hence there are exercises for the tongue, lips and jaw.

Emotions, subtext, logical accent and dynamic speech in parallel with correct facial expressions, gestures, gesticulation or non-verbal communication, body language is required to properly convey the message. The subjects of visual, spanning attire, make-up, hairstyle, and the image will be also discussed.

Upon completion of the course, they will master the techniques of giving public speeches and presentations in front of different types of audiences, improve their speech, master body language, acquire the skills needed for hosting official meetings, recording comments and interviews, holding briefings and conferences.
