Georgian National University SEU is pleased to announce an open competition for academic positions (professor, associate professor, assistant professor) at the Faculty of Business and Technologies, English-taught Educational Program in Business Administration, Bachelor of Tourism Program, Bachelor of Finance Program, Master of Human Resource Management Program and Master of Education Administration Program in the following direction:

For the English-taught Educational Program in Business Administration:

To participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the required (academic/professional) eligibility on the relevant competition vacancy, in line with the following criteria:

For the academic position of a professor:

With academic eligibility:

  • Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
  • At least 6 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
  • Authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
  • Vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program;
  • Additional requirements for the English-taught program:
  • Command of English at least at B2 level;
  •  For the academic position of an associate professor:

With academic eligibility:

  • Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
  • At least 3 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
  • Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant educational course(s);
  • Vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program;

Additional requirements for the English-taught program:

  • Command of English at least at B2 level;

With academic eligibility:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
  • At least 5 years of work experience in the relevant field, related to practical operation in leading positions of the field;
  • Scientific publication(s) published during the last 10 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
  • Vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program;

For the academic position of an assistant professor:

With academic eligibility:

  • Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
  • Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant educational course(s);
  • Vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program;

Additional requirements for the English-taught program:

  • Command of English at least at B2 level;

The foreign language competence of the contestant will be found attested in one of the following cases:

  • Submitting a document certifying higher education in the relevant language;
  • Submitting a document certifying the experience of teaching a higher education program/course in the relevant language;
  • Submitting an internationally recognized certificate of language competence, attesting that the contestant has acquired the relevant language at least at B2 level, in accordance with the competency description established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR).

One of the following certificates below will be found to be the internationally recognized foreign language competence document of B2 level as of Sub-paragraph 3 of Paragraph 2 of this Article:

  • Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) – 165

  • The participant of the academic competition who fails to prove his/her language competence in accordance with the provisions of Paragraphs 2 and 3 of this Article shall be obliged to give a demonstration lecture in a foreign language before the Commission, or take a language proficiency test prepared by the University. Test materials and competency threshold will be determined by the University.

Additional criteria for academic staff:

  • Practical experience in the relevant field;
  • Participation in scientific conferences; holding scientific scholarships and grants;
  • Participation in professional development activities;
  • Command of foreign languages;

Documents to be submitted for the competition:

  • Application for participation in the competition with an indication of the relevant academic position and direction;
  • Contestant profile;
  • Copy of ID card;
  • A certificate of conviction for a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability;
  • Certificate of deprivation of rights;
  • Qualification-related educational documents (in case of education received abroad, it is necessary to present a document certifying the recognition of education);
  • Information on professional/scientific and pedagogical experience (it is necessary to submit the relevant certificate to confirm the work experience provided by the vacancy);
  • Information on published scientific papers, etc.;
  • Vision on academic activity;
  • Syllabus(es);
  • Proof of English language proficiency (if any);
  • Documentation confirming the competitor’s compliance with the additional criteria;
  • Stages of the competition:
  • Selecting the documents submitted by the contestants;
  • Testing/demonstration lecture to prove English language proficiency (to be held for those contestants who do not have English language proficiency or international language proficiency certification);
  • Interview with the competition commission (it is possible to include a demonstration lecture).

Competition terms:

  • The competition application and the relevant documents must be submitted within the deadlines for submission of the competition documentation.
  • The commission is entitled to check the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant, and/or request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of request for additional documentation, the person will be advanced to the next stage of the competition, provided that the relevant documentation is submitted.
  • Your resume, submitted to Georgian National University SEU in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection, may contain personal data, including data of a special status. Please be informed that your personal data will be processed by Georgian National University SEU for the purpose of making a contract with you, including the decision to establish a labor relationship.
  • An affiliation agreement will be signed with the persons selected in the competition, in case of their desire.
  • Terms for selecting the contestants:
  • Stage one: Selection of the submitted documentation, determining the completeness of the documentation and the compliance of their applications with the main criteria;
  • Stage two: Testing/demonstration lecture to prove English competence;
  • Stage three: The interview; the competition commission will assess the compliance with each of the main criteria of the contestant, and in case of the number of contestants exceeding the number of relevant vacancies, assessment of compliance with additional criteria will be initiated;

Competition deadlines:

  • The competition is announced from February 8, 2022;
  • Applications for academic positions will be accepted from March 9, 2022 to March 15, 2022;
  • Stage one of the competition - the selection of documents: March 16-18, 2022;
  • Stage two of the competition - testing/demonstration lecture to prove English competence: March 21 - 22, 2022;
  • Stage three of the competition - the interview with the competition commission: March 23-25, 2022 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after successfully passing the first stage of the competition);
  • Announcement of competition results: March 28, 2022;
  • Receipt of an appeal: up to March 29, 2022;
  • Review of appeals: March 30, 2022;

Announcement of the final results: March 31, 2022.
