Georgian National University SEU is pleased to announce an open competition for academic positions (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor) at the Faculty of Law, in the following areas: Private Law, Criminal Law, Public Law and International Law.

Competition vacancies:

• Professor of private law: 2 vacancies;
• Associate professor of Private Law with academic eligibility: 2 vacancies;
• Associate professor of Criminal Law with professional eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Associate professor of Criminal law with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Assistant professor of Public Law with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Assistant professor of International Law with an academic eligibility: 1 vacancy; 

To participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the required (academic / professional) eligibility on the relevant competition vacancy, in line with the following criteria below:

As for the academic position of professor:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 6 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program.

As for the academic position of associate professor:

As per academic qualification:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 3 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant educational courses;
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(s) of the relevant educational course(s) of the educational program.
   

As for the academic position of associate professor:

As per academic qualification:

• Master’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
• At least 5 years of work experience in the relevant field, related to practical work in leading positions in the field of law (experience in participation in legislative activities, expert experience in the field of human rights protection);
• Scientific publication(s) published during the last 10 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program.
  
  

For the academic position of an assistant professor:

As per academic eligibility:

• Doctoral or equivalent academic degree;
• scientific publication(s) published in the last 5 years in the direction of the relevant educational course(s);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Presentation of the syllabus(es) of the educational course(s) relevant to the educational program.

Additional criteria for academic staff:

• Practical experience in the relevant field;
• Participation in scientific conferences, scientific scholarships and grants;
• Participation in professional development events;
• Proficiency in foreign languages;
• Learning/teaching experience in European universities;
• Experience in activities in international organizations/projects.
  
  

List of documents to be submitted for the competition:

• Application for participation in the competition (see the attachment)
• Contestant form; (see the attachment)
• Copy of ID card;
• Documentation relevant to the criteria set for the vacancy: qualification attesting educational documents (in case of education received abroad, it is necessary to submit a document certifying the recognition of education);
• Information on professional / scientific-pedagogical experience (it is necessary to submit the relevant certificate to confirm the work experience/duration provided by the vacancy);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Syllabus(s);
• Certificate of conviction for a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of the right;
• Documentation confirming the competitor’s compliance with the additional criteria.
   

Competition stages:

• Selecting the documents submitted by the contestants;
• Interviewing with the competition commission.
  
  

Competition terms:

• The competition application and relevant documentation must be submitted within the deadlines.
• The commission is authorized to check the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant and/or request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of request for additional documentation, the person will be admitted to the next stage of the competition, provided that the relevant documentation is submitted.
• Your resume submitted to Georgian National University SEU in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection may contain personal data, including data of a special category. Please be informed that your personal data will be processed by Georgian National University SEU for the purpose of making a contract with you, including the decision to establish an employment relationship.
• The completion terms require the selected candidates to sign an affiliation agreement with the university.
  
  

Contestant selection terms:

• The first stage: selecting the submitted documentation, determining the completeness of the documentation and the compliance of their applications with the main criteria;
• The second stage: the interview, the competition commission will assess the compliance with each of the main criteria of the contestant, and in case the number of contestants exceeds the number of relevant vacancies, the assessment of compliance with additional criteria will be initiated as well.
  
  

Competition deadlines:

• The competition is announced on June 23, 2022;
• Applications for academic positions will be accepted on July 25-27, 2022;
• The first stage of the competition for the selection of documents: July 28-29, 2022;
• Third stage of the competition Interview with the competition commission: August 3-4, 2022 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after passing the first stage of the competition);
• Announcement of competition results: August 8, 2022
• Receipt of an appeal: till August 9, 2022;
• Review of appeals: August 10, 2022;
• Announcement of the final results of the competition: August 11, 2022.
