Georgian National University SEU (hereinafter referred to as SEU) announces an open competition for the academic positions of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences:

Vacancies:

1. Discipline: Psychology:

• Professor with academic eligibility: 2 vacancies;
• Associate professor with academic eligibility: 2 vacancies.

2. Discipline: Social Psychology:

• Professor with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Assistant professor with academic eligibility: 2 vacancies;
• Assistant professor with professional eligibility: 1 vacancy; 

3. Discipline: Clinical Psychology:

• Professor with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Associate professor with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Assistant professor with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy.

4. Discipline: International Relations:

• Associate professor with academic eligibility: 4 vacancies;
• Assistant professor with professional eligibility: 1 vacancy. 

5. Discipline: Journalism:

• Professor with academic eligibility: 1 vacancy;
• Associate professor with academic eligibility: 3 vacancies.

A person is to be elected to the academic position of professor and associate professor for a duration of 4 years and to the academic position of an assistant professor for a duration of 3 years.

In order to participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the (academic / professional) requirements for the relevant competition vacancy with the following criteria below:

For the academic position of a professor with an academic eligibility:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 6 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program.
  
  

For the academic position of an associate professor with an academic eligibility:

• Academic degree of Doctor or equivalent;
• At least 3 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
• Scientific publications published during the last 5 years in the field of relevant educational courses;
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(s) of the relevant educational course(s) of the educational program.
  
  

For the academic position of an assistant professor with an academic eligibility:

• Doctor’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
• At least 5 years of work experience in the relevant field, related to practical operation in leading positions of the field;
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program.
  
  

For the academic position of an assistant professor with a professional eligibility:

• Master’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
• At least 3 years of work experience in the relevant field, related to practical operation in leading positions of the field (content of practical work can be specified based on the specifics of the program);
• Scientific publication(s) published during the last 10 years in the field of relevant educational course(s);
• Vision on academic activity;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) of the relevant course(s) under the educational program.
  
  

Additional criteria:

• Practical experience in the relevant field;
• Participation in scientific conferences, scientific scholarships and grants;
• Participation in professional development activities;
• Proficiency in foreign languages.
• Learning/teaching experience in European universities;
• Experience of working in international organizations/projects.
  
  

List of documents to be submitted for the competition:

• Application for participation in the competition (see the attachment)
• Contestant form; (see the attachment)
• Copy of ID card;
• Documentation relevant to the criteria set for the vacancy: qualification attesting educational documents (in case of education received abroad, it is necessary to submit a document certifying the recognition of education);
• Information on professional / scientific-pedagogical experience (it is necessary to submit the relevant certificate to confirm the work experience/duration provided by the vacancy);
• Information on published scientific papers, etc.;
• Vision on academic activity;
• Syllabus(s);
• Certificate of conviction for a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and certificate of deprivation of the right;
• Documentation confirming the competitor’s compliance with the additional criteria.
  
  

Competition terms:

• The competition application and relevant documentation must be submitted within the deadlines.
• The commission is authorized to check the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant and/or request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of request for additional documentation, the person will be admitted to the next stage of the competition, provided that the relevant documentation is submitted.
• Your resume submitted to Georgian National University SEU in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection may contain personal data, including data of a special category. Please be informed that your personal data will be processed by Georgian National University SEU for the purpose of making a contract with you, including the decision to establish an employment relationship.
• The completion terms require the selected candidates to sign an affiliation agreement with the university.
  
  

Competition stages:

• Selecting the documents submitted by the contestants;
• Interviewing with the competition commission.
   

Contestant selection terms:

• The first stage: selecting the submitted documentation, determining the completeness of the documentation and the compliance of their applications with the main criteria;
• The second stage: the interview, the competition commission will assess the compliance with each of the main criteria of the contestant, and in case the number of contestants exceeds the number of relevant vacancies, the assessment of compliance with additional criteria will be initiated as well.
   

Competition deadlines: 

• The competition is announced on July 1, 2022;
• Applications for academic positions will be accepted on August 1-10, 2022;
• The first stage of the competition for the selection of documents: August 11-12, 2022;
• Third stage of the competition Interview with the competition commission: August 15-16, 2022 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after passing the first stage of the competition);
• Announcement of competition results: August 18, 2022
• Receipt of an appeal: till August 19, 2022;
• Review of appeals: August 22, 2022;
• Announcement of the final results of the competition: August 23, 2022.
