Information on the Competition for Interns Exercising Prosecutor’s Powers and Powers of Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office at Prosecutor’s Office 

Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia announces competitions at Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia for the interns exercising prosecutor’s powers and powers of investigator of Prosecutor’s Office.

The main requirements towards the internship candidates:

  • Target-oriented;
  • Self-disciplined;
  • Skill of working in stressful environment;
  • Motivation;
  • Analytical thinking.

If you would like to participate in the competition, you should send the application for competition via the website of the Civil Service Bureau (www.hr.gov.ge) from October 9, 2023 through October 22, 2023.

Upon sending the respective application for competition, internship candidates must attach to the application the scanned copies of the following documents:

  • Copy of the identity card (or passport) of a Georgian citizen;
  • Copy of the diploma confirming higher legal education (together with the copy of the marksheet) or a certificate on the completion of higher legal education;
  • Copy of the certificate on passing the qualification exam of prosecutor’s office, or the qualification exam of judges, or the qualification exam of advocates (if any).

Note: the internship candidates, who have not passed qualification exam by the moment of announcement of the competition, will be admitted to the competition without the document confirming the passing of the qualification exam, though, in the case of successful participation in the competition, they will be appointed as interns after passing the qualification exam of prosecutor’s office, or the qualification exam of judges, or the qualification exam of advocates.

The competition for interns will be conducted in three stages. First – selection of applications, second stage will be held in the form of a test, after passing it successfully, the candidates will be interviewed.

Program of the second stage of the competition for interns and the passing grade barrier for the test

The program of the second stage of the competition includes the following legal acts:

  • Constitution of Georgia;
  • European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1950);
  • European Convention on Extradition (1957);
  • European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (1959);
  • Minsk Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases (1993) (except for II and III Chapters);
  • General Administrative Code of Georgia;
  • Organic Law of Georgia on Prosecutor’s Office;
  • Criminal Code of Georgia;
  • Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia;
  • Juvenile Justice Code;
  • Law of Georgia on International Cooperation in Criminal Matters.

The second stage of the competition will be passed, if the internship candidate receives 75 or more points out of the given 100 tests. Each task (test) is accompanied by four probable answers and only one answer is correct. Correct answer is assessed with 1 point and incorrect answer with – 0 point.

The barrier of the test score for advancing to the next stage of the competition may be changed upon the decision of the internship commission.

Within 2 working days from the announcement of the results of the second stage of the competition, the candidates may address the internship commission with an appeal.

The internship candidates, who fail to pass the second stage of the competition will not be admitted to the third stage of the competition (interview).

After the test, successful candidates will be interviewed. Before the interview, an IQ test may be held for the competitors.

The internship candidates will be informed on the date, time and place of each stage of the competition. In order to be admitted to each stage of the competition, the internship candidates must carry their identity documents.

After undergoing the respective training course, the successful candidates will undergo up to one year paid internship at the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia – they will be appointed as the interns exercising prosecutor’s powers or the interns exercising powers of investigator.

Internship at the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia is paid and the monthly salary equals to 1056 GEL.

After the internship term (one year) is expired, the internship commission evaluates the interns and delivers respective decision.

The person, who undergoes the internship successfully, will be appointed to the respective vacant position (prosecutor or investigator) at the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia. In special case (upon performing the duties at high level and/or achieving the best results), the internship may be ceased earlier (but no earlier than 6 months) and he/she may be appointed to the respective vacant position.
