VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF BUSINESS LAB COORDINATOR

Georgian National University SEU is announcing a vacancy for the position of Business Lab Coordinator. 

The main purpose of the work: Managing the university unit Business Lab which serves students and employees and provides community, resources and physical environment (rooms, labs, conference area) essential for fostering entrepreneurial skills and facilitating strategic partnerships between academia and industry.

Functions:

  • To drive the development and implementation of the Business Lab as a new SEU unit, including development of a stimulating physical environment, development of contents and programmes, and consultancy services which all together should support an overall entrepreneurial and cooperative spirit among SEU students and staff.
  • To manage the Business Lab operations through its start-up and growth phases, including day to day management and liaising with SEU management to ensure all required facilities are in place and the physical Business Lab environment runs smoothly.
  • To develop a vibrant and sustainable environment that stimulates entrepreneurship and enables active learning and organise regular contact-making events.
  • To design and develop different programmes like ICT Hub, Business Accelerator, Advice & Mentoring and Project Management Assistant, organise the delivery of workshops, training and networking events, and stimulate learning and networking among SEU students, staff and business partners.
  • To develop and manage Business Partners Network and Academic Network, keep them regularly updated about opportunities to develop joint research and business projects together and the consultancy services offered by the SEU, and to engage them in workshops and training events for SEU students, staff and alumni
  • To design and promote SEU consultancy services, research results and fresh innovative ideas to business partners, regional and international market.
  • To increase the number of spinout/start-up businesses and entrepreneurs’ resident at, or taking support from, the Business Lab.
  • To support the development of proposals and bids for internal and external funds so that entrepreneurial activities can be further developed and accelerated, and identify opportunities to deliver paid events and training.
  • To manage Business Lab staff and other associates involved in the delivery of Business Lab programmes and activities
  • To develop and propose annual work plans with relevant budgets, coordinate their implementation, organise evaluation and assessment, and provide regular reports about Business Lab overall progress and fields for improvement.

The level of education: University degree - at least MSc level qualification (5 years of academic study), PhD would be considered an advantage

Education Field: Degree in Business, Management, Information Technologies or another related field

Languages

  • Georgian and English – proficient in both written and verbal

Experience

Work experience:

  • Previous experience in an academic environment and networking with the business sector is considered an advantage
  • Project or team leader in innovative research or business projects, teaching or training entrepreneurship, business
  • Advisory on business, legal, IP and access-to-finance matters

Field of experience:

  • Projects and programme development and management
  • Cross-sectoral networking
  • Development of start-ups, spin-offs and commercialization of academic consultancy and applied research results

Leadership experience:

  • Handling multiple projects
  • Leading small and/or medium-sized teams
  • Training/mentoring newer team members 

Competencies and skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in similar positions – managing collaborative projects, mentoring students in development business ideas, teaching/training the business-related skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Experience in establishing contacts and building partnership with stakeholders, academics, entrepreneurs and investors
  • Strong organisational and event management skills
  • Goal-oriented and self-motivated
  • Curious, creative, attention to details and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Optimistic, can support the team members and enjoy working with people
  • Team spirit and also able to work independently when needed
  • Ability to present information concisely and identify key issues clearly
