From September 18, 2023 Georgian National University SEU announces an open competition at the Faculty of Medicine for the academic positions of a professor, associate professor and assistant professor in the following directions:

Medicobiological direction:

• Professor – 5 vacancies;
• Associate professor – 6 vacancies (on academic grounds);
• Assistant professor – 3 vacancies (on academic or professional grounds).
  
  

Clinical direction:

• Professor – 10 vacancies;
• Associate professor – 4 vacancies (on academic grounds);
• Assistant professor – 4 vacancies (on academic or professional grounds).

Research and healthcare direction:

Assistant professor – 3 vacancies (on academic grounds).

For the academic position of a professor:

• Doctor’s or equivalent academic degree;
• No less than 6 years’ experience in the scientific and pedagogical field at a higher educational institution;
• Experience in clinical work for last 9 years (for clinical disciplines)
• Authorship/co-authorship of scientific publications published in the direction of themes of the respective study course within the last 5 (five) years;
• Vision for academic activities;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) for the courses corresponding with the educational program;
• State certificate for the respective/related specialty of medical occupation. (for clinical disciplines);
• Knowledge of a proper (minimum B2) level English in order to implement the study course.
  
  

For the academic position of associate professor: 

On academic grounds:

• Doctor’s or Equivalent academic degree;
• No less than 3 years’ experience in the scientific and pedagogical field at a higher educational institution;
• Experience in clinical work for last 5 years (for clinical disciplines)
• Scientific publication/publications published within last 5 years in the direction of the themes of the respective study course/courses;
• Vision for academic activities;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) for the courses corresponding with the educational program;
• State certificate for the respective/related specialty of medical occupation. (for clinical disciplines)
• Knowledge of a proper (minimum B2) level English in order to implement the study course.
  
  

For the academic position of assistant professor:

On academic grounds:

• Doctor’s or Equivalent academic degree;
• Scientific publication/publications published within last 5 years in the direction of the themes of the respective study course/courses;
• Vision for academic activities;
• Submission of the syllabus(es) for the courses corresponding with the educational program;
• Clinical experience for last 3 years; (for clinical disciplines)
• State certificate for the respective/related specialty of medical occupation. (for clinical disciplines)
• Knowledge of a proper (minimum B2) level English in order to implement the study course.
  
  

On professional grounds:

• At least Master’s or equivalent academic degree;
• At least 3 (three) years’ experience of working in the respective field, which is related to practical activities in the field of medicine or in related field;
• Clinical experience for last 5 years; (for clinical disciplines)
• Submission of the syllabus(es) for the courses corresponding with the educational program;
• Scientific publication/publications in the direction of themes of the respective study course within the last 10 years. 
• Vision for academic activities 
• State certificate for the respective/related specialty of medical occupation. (for clinical disciplines)
• Knowledge of a proper (minimum B2) level English in order to implement the study course.
  
  

If the number of competitioners selected according to the basic competition criteria for certain academic position exceeds the number of vacancies, the following additional criteria will be applied in order to select the winners:

• Practical experience of working in the respective field;
• Participation in scientific conferences, science scholarships and grants;
• Participation in the events of professional development;
• Experience of studying/teaching at foreign universities;
• Experience of working for the structures/projects of international organization.
  
  

Documentation to be provided for competition:

• Statement for participation in the competition, according to the established form with the indication of academic position and direction (See the Annex);
• Application form for the competitioners, filled in according to the established form (See the Annex);
• Copy of the identity document;
• Copies of all documents certifying the gained education/academic degree (the document of recognition of the education and/or academic degree gained abroad issued according to the procedure established by law, if such exist); 
• Documents certifying scientific and pedagogical activities and/or professional experience in the respective field (certificate, copy of the employment record book etc.)
• Vision for academic activities (teaching, research, social activities);
• Course syllabuses intended/offered for the respective program;
• Certificate of respective specialty (for clinical disciplines);
• Other documentation certifying compliance with the basic and additional criteria (if such exist);
• Certificate of conviction for a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and Certificate of Deprivation of Right (according to the law of Georgia, the person convicted for having committed the sexual crime and/or the person whose right to work at a higher educational institution has been deprived shall be prohibited to get employed/work at a higher educational institution).
• Document certifying English language competence, which can be confirmed by one of the criteria given below

• At least 3 years’’ experience of teaching with English language program
• Doing medical work in English language in the clinic operating abroad for at least 1 year;
• Doing learning/research activities in English in the direction of Biomedicine at a research institution operating abroad for at least 1 year;
• Completion of a pre-diploma or post-diploma English-based program, which is certified by respective document;
• Internationally recognized certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, UNIcert, EnglishScore etc.) certifying the knowledge of English at least at B2 level.

SEU keeps the right to check the information/documentation submitted by the competitioner.

The competition documentation submitted by the competitioner may include personal data according to the Law of Georgia ‘’On Personal Data Protection’’, including the special categories of data. The competitioner must bear in mind that his/her personal data will be processed by the University (SEU) for the purposes of rendering the decision on the establishment of labor relations.

While participating in the competition for taking the academic position, upon the selection of the candidates with equal data, the advance consent on affiliation with SEU stated by the competitioner may be considered by SEU as the grounds for granting priority among other competitioners and may not be regarded as any type of discrimination. Herewith, advance consent on affiliation does not provide the guarantee of selection for academic position.

The competition will be conducted in two phases:

• Selection of competitioners according to the submitted documentation (without the presence of the competitioners);
• Interview of the selected competitioners with the competition commission (you will be informed about the schedule/time of interview personally).
  
  

Competition terms: 

• Receipt of competition documentation: from October 18, 2023 through October 27, 2023;
• The first phase of the competition/reviewing of documents: November 13-14, 2023;
• The second phase of the competition/interview: November 16-17, 2023; 
• Publication of initial results of the competition: November 20, 2023;
• Receipt of appeals/complaints: November 21, 2023; 
• Reviewing of appeals/complaints: November 22, 2023;  
• Publication of final results of the competition: November 24, 2023.
