Spring School - Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Process

Georgian National University SEU hosted a two-day international Spring School “Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Process”, which was attended by about 150 students from various Georgian and SEU partner international universities.

The project was carried out within the framework of cooperation between SEU and the Information Center on NATO and the European Union. The first day, dedicated to the importance of NATO and Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration, was opened with a welcome speech by Tamara Tsuleiskiri, Director of the Information Center on NATO and the European Union, and Giorgi Ghavtadze, Vice-Rector of Georgian National University SEU, discussing the importance of the project.

Ambassador Marek Schigel, Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) was among the speakers. He spoke about the activities and role of the EUMM. Davit Nardaia, Georgia's Deputy Representative to NATO, spoke to the youth about the goals and objectives of the North Atlantic Alliance, the dynamics of NATO-Georgia relations, future prospects and key myths about NATO.

Davit Bujiashvili, Director of the EU and Sectoral Integration Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia was also among the speakers, who briefed the students on the partnership between Georgia and the European Union, while Davit Dzidzishvili, Director of the Research and Analysis Department at the Strategic Communications Center-Georgia, spoke about anti-Western propaganda and the importance of raising public awareness of disinformation.

The SEU professors Nino Okhanshvili, Tornike Shurgulaia and Vakhtang Maisaia made presentations on the following issues: Basic Foundations of NATO, NATO History and Development Stages, New NATO Security Architecture, Black Sea Security Dimension and NATO Strategic Concept, etc.

Gela Tsaava and Vakhtang Maisaia discussed the following issues: Georgia-EU Cooperation in the Framework of the European Neighborhood Policy, EU Defense and Security Policy, and the Caucasus - Caspian Regional Security, the Association Agreement and Georgia's Path to Europe.
