Georgian National University SEU announces Open Competition for academic positions (Associate Professor, Assistant Professor) at the Faculty of Business and Technology

  • The English-medium Undergraduate Program of Business in the direction of Human Resource Management, Accounting, Analysis and Auditing, Marketing and Management.
  • The Georgian-medium Undergraduate Program of Business Administration in the direction of Economics.
  • The Undergraduate Program of Finance in the direction of Finance.
  • The Undergraduate Program of Tourism in the direction of Tourism.
  • The Undergraduate Program of Information Technology and Systems in Business in the direction of Computer Science.

Competitive vacancies:

In the direction of Human Resource Management:

  • Associate Professor: (3 vacancies);
  • Assistant Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Accounting, Analysis and Audit:

  • Associate Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Marketing:

  • Associate Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Management:

  • Associate Professor: (2 vacancies);

In the direction of Economics:

  • Assistant Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Tourism:

  • Assistant Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Finance

  • Assistant Professor: (1 vacancy);

In the direction of Computer Science:

  • Associate Professor: (2 vacancies).

 

To participate in the competition, the contestant must meet the academic qualification required by the relevant academic vacancy and determined by the criteria below.

Competition criteria: For the academic position of Associate Professor: Academic qualification:

  • Doctor’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
  • At least 3 years of scientific-pedagogical work experience in a higher education institution;
  • Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant academic course(s);
  • Having a vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(i) of the relevant academic course(s) of the educational program;
  • Command of English (at least B2 Level) for (English-medium directions only).

 

For the academic position of Assistant Professor: Academic qualification:

  • Doctor’s degree or equivalent academic degree;
  • Scientific publication(s) published during the last 5 years in the field of the relevant academic course(s);
  • Having a vision on academic activity;
  • Submission of the syllabus(i) of the relevant academic course(s) of the educational program.
  • Command of English (at least B2 Level) for (English-medium directions only).
     

The foreign language competence of the contestant will be considered confirmed in one of the following cases:

  • In case of submitting a document certifying higher education having received in English (it is necessary to submit a document certifying the recognition of education);
  • In case of submission of a document certifying the experience of teaching a higher education program/academic course in the relevant language;
  • In case of submission of an internationally recognized certificate of language proficiency, confirming the contestant to have mastered the relevant language at least B2 level, in accordance with the competency description established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR).

One of the following below is considered to be an internationally recognized certificate of B2 level language competence:

  • Cambridge English First (FCE),
  • BEC Vantage,
  • IELTS 5-6.5,
  • TOEFL iBT 87-109,
  • Michigan ECCE,
  • PTE General Level 3,
  • PTE Academic 59-75,
  • Trinity ISE II

A participant of an academic competition who fails to prove his / her language competence is obliged to give a mock lecture in a foreign language or take a language competency test developed by the university. The test structure and competency threshold are determined by the university.

Additional criteria:

  • Practical experience in the relevant field;
  • Participation in scientific conferences, having scientific scholarships and grants;
  • Participation in professional development activities;
  • Command of foreign languages;

Documents to be submitted for the competition:

  • An application for participation in the competition with an indication of the relevant academic position and direction;
  • Contestant’s form;
  • A copy of the identity card;
  • Documentation relevant to the criteria set for the vacancy:
    • The educational documents attesting the qualification (in case of education received abroad, it is necessary to present a document certifying the recognition of education);
    • Information on scientific-pedagogical experience (it is necessary to submit the relevant certificate to confirm the work experience provided by the vacancy);
    • Information on published scientific papers, etc.
  • Documentation confirming the competitor’s compliance with the additional criteria;
  • Having a vision of academic activity;
  • Syllabus(i);
  • A certificate of conviction for a crime against sexual freedom and inviolability and a certificate of deprivation of the right.

Stages of the competition:

  • Selection of documents submitted by the contestants (in the absence of the contestants);
  • Taking an English language test (for English-medium directions only) / mock lecture (will be held for the applicants with no English language teaching / learning documents or an international certificate of language proficiency of the relevant level);
  • Interview with the competition commission (may include delivering a mock lecture).

Competition conditions:

  • The competition application and relevant documents must be submitted within the deadlines for submission of the competition documents;
  • The commission is authorized to check the accuracy of the information and documentation submitted by the contestant and/or request the contestant to submit additional documentation. In case of requesting additional documentation, the person will be admitted to the next stage of the competition provided that the relevant documentation is submitted;
  • The resume submitted to Georgian National University SEU in accordance with the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection may contain personal data, including the data of a special category. Please be informed that your personal data will be processed by Georgian National University SEU for the purposes of making a contract with you, including the decision to establish a labor relationship;
  • An affiliation agreement will be signed with the persons selected in the competition.
     

Conditions for selection of contestants:

  • The first stage involves selecting the submitted documentation, determining the completeness of the documentation and the compliance of their applications with the main criteria;
  • The second stage involves the competition commission examining the contestant’s eligibility with each of the main criteria, and in case the number of contestants exceeding the number of relevant vacancies, assessing their compliance with the additional criteria.

Competition deadlines:

  • The competition is announced from July 7, 2021;
  • The applications for the academic positions will be accepted by August 23, 2021;
  • The first stage of selecting the competition documents will be held on August 24-27, 2021;
  • The second stage of the competition, involving testing, will be held on August 30-31;
  • The third stage of the competition, involving interviews with the competition commission, will be held on September 1-8, 2021 (the exact date and time of the interview will be announced to the candidate after successfully passing the first stage of the competition);
  • The list of successful participants will be published on September 9, 2021;
  • Appeal applications will be accepted until September 10, 2021;
  • The appeal applications will be considered on September 13, 2021;
  • The final results of the competition will be published on September 14, 2021.
