On November 3, Georgian National University SEU hosted the presentation of the book “Handbook on Combating Violence against Women and Children and Domestic Violence”, authored by Goga Khatiashvili, a lawyer and invited lecturer at SEU.
As part of the presentation, a documentary was shown and a discussion was held on the progress made against women and domestic violence, together with current challenges.
The handbook contains explanations of existing legislation, as well as recent changes in various laws concerning the field of protection of women and junior victims against domestic violence.
The handbook is primarily designed for law, social, and humanities students; although, it will provide significant assistance to practitioners working on women and domestic violence or anyone interested in this very issue.
The SEU Faculty of Law is one of the first to offer the subject ‘Legal Aspects of Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence’ as an academic course with more than 200 successful undergraduate students so far. The handbook will help students to apply the knowledge gained within the mentioned subject in their future professional activities.
It should be noted that the handbook was published with the support of USAID / PROLoG- Project Promoting Rule of Law in Georgia.
