Georgian National University SEU hosted the Georgian-Swiss International Summer School “Georgia Against the Background of Conflict and Confrontation”

On June 7-8, Georgian National University SEU hosted the Georgian-Swiss International Summer School “Georgia Against the Background of Conflict and Confrontation”.

Students and professors of Georgian National University SEU and the Eastern Switzerland University (OST) participated in the Summer School.

The Summer School participants heard a lecture delivered by Professor Vakhtang Maisaia on Georgia’s geopolitical challenges on June 7 at SEU and became actively involved in the imitated debates. The students were met by Kristine Kapanadze and Nino Gogokhia, the representatives of the Youth Agency. They talked about the projects implemented by the Youth Agency as well as the future plans and challenges.

They also met with the representatives of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Georgia Irina Sepherteladze and Salome Alania, who introduced the participants to the research results and youth challenges across different regions of Georgia.

On July 8, the participants visited the Swiss Embassy, where they met with the Swiss Ambassador. Later they also attended the plenary session of the Parliament of Georgia, and looked around the building of the Parliament of Georgia and the newly opened museum. Additionally, the Swiss and Georgian students were hosted by Tbilisi City Council members Kakhaber Labuchidze, Giorgi Chakvetadze and Giorgi Okropiridze. They introduced the students to the project and plans implemented by the City Council.

Certificates and some symbolic gifts were given to the participants at Tbilisi City Council.

It is interesting to note that as part of the Summer School, SEU students and professors will visit the Eastern Switzerland University (OST) in early July.
