On Funding for the Education of Socially Vulnerable Students

Tbilisi City Hall started accepting applications from March 1 to finance the tuition fees of socially vulnerable students for the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year.

Funding will be provided to socially vulnerable students registered in Tbilisi, who have been enrolled in undergraduate, graduate or a diploma course in medicine in accordance with the law; the ones who are active student status holders and are registered in the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families of the Social Service Agency and the assigned rating score is equal to or less than 150,000, and the statement from the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families indicates the address of the family residence in Tbilisi.

The amount of funding (2,250 GEL per year and 1,125 GEL per semester) will be determined by the student's academic achievement in the previous semester, in particular:
91-100 points – allowance of no more than 100% of the semester amount for students whose rating score in the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families is equal to or less than 150,000.

71-90 points – allowance of more than 100% of the semester amount for students whose rating score in the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families does not exceed 70,000 and not more than 70% of the semester amount for students whose rating score in the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families there is more than 70,000 and less than 150,000 or equal to 150,000.

51-70 points – allowance of no more than 50% of the semester fee for students whose rating score in the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families is equal to or less than 150,000.

To receive funding, a student must submit the following documents to the Tbilisi City Hall:

  • Personal application;
  • Copy of ID card or copy of Georgian citizen's passport;
  • Statement from the Unified Database of Socially Vulnerable Families;
  • Certificate from a higher education institution, specifying information on student status and annual fees;
  • Academic achievement rate / statement issued by the higher education institution on the subjects and assessments passed in the previous semester (except for the first semester students);
  • For internally displaced persons – a document on the place of temporary registration issued by the authorized administrative body;
  • Bank details / invoice of the higher education institution.
  • Application submission started on March 1, 2021 and will continue until May 31.
